“RR Donnelley is an advocate for change in the public arena. We engage in diverse partnerships and make a positive difference in our communities with donations of time, talent, and money.”

Our Commitment to
EXTERNAL AFFAIRS

In 2005, we established a single External Affairs function to coordinate the activities of our Alliance Markets Group, Government Relations, RR Donnelley Foundation and Community Relations, and Supplier Diversity programs.

RR Donnelley is committed to using minority, women, and disabled veteran-owned business enterprises (MWBEs). These businesses must be certified by an RR Donnelley-approved agency to be at least 51 percent owned, operated and controlled by either minorities, women or disabled veterans who must also be U.S. citizens.

To certify status, RR Donnelley uses independent third parties to audit financial and management operations, including the National Minority Supplier Development Council and the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. RR Donnelley also validates that all filings have been made with the applicable government agencies to ensure MWBE status.

Alliance Markets Group
This group’s aim is to increase the amount of money RR Donnelley customers spend with MWBEs, particularly those in our Fortune 1000 and Government customer base. To do this, we form strategic alliances and joint ventures with MWBEs. Currently, we have agreements with 12 business partners.

Government Relations
Leadership means being an advocate with our customers and industry. RR Donnelley believes that it is our responsibility to represent the interests of our industry and our customers to U.S. federal, state, and local governments.

Our Government Relations department acts as an advocate for our company, our customers, and our industry in three ways:
  • We have ongoing efforts to promote favorable policies and programs through effective liaisons with government officials.
  • We support new business opportunities for the company that include governmental dimensions.
  • We help the company in long-range planning through assessments of trends in government policies and programs.
  Supplier Diversity Program
For more than 20 years, RR Donnelley has been committed to building relationships with diverse business partners. We strive to identify and develop qualified underutilized suppliers, cultivating relationships and contributing to the economic growth and development of diverse businesses.

Supplier Inclusion

Six focus areas guide our approach to supplier inclusion. Among them are sales consultation, mentoring and development, outreach, utilization, and certification as well as helping second tier suppliers.

The objectives of the program are to:
  • Use diverse suppliers directly as providers of goods and services
  • Influence our prime suppliers to expand their relationships with diverse suppliers
  • Assist diverse suppliers in forging alliances that expand their scope and scale
  • Increase opportunities for MWBEs in the printing industry
  • Consult with sales in creating customer-focused diverse supplier relationships
“RR Donnelley people have a long-standing and wellearned reputation for always doing more than their share.”
— Gaylord Donnelley

Our Commitment to
THE COMMUNITY

RR Donnelley Foundation and Community Relations
Our company’s long-term strength depends on the strength of our communities. Strong, stable, vibrant communities are good places to conduct business and even better places to live. That’s why we focus our community relations efforts on programs that enhance the cities and towns in which our employees live and work.

The RR Donnelley Foundation and our Corporate Giving Program sponsor a variety of programs that promote reading and literacy.

The RR Donnelley philanthropic philosophy reflects the company’s mission: that we will support those programs that promote literacy and the written word in the communities in which our employees work and live. The RR Donnelley Foundation and our Corporate Giving program sponsor a variety of programs that promote reading and literacy to ensure the future strength of our communities.

Additionally, we firmly believe in the principles of diversity and inclusion; they are an integral part of RR Donnelley’s heritage and its future.
To ensure that the Foundation and our Corporate Giving reflect these important principles, we apply a lens of inclusion to all of our grant-making decisions. We believe that our workplaces and our communities benefit from an understanding of, and respect for, the diverse peoples and cultures that make up our society. Again, we evaluate each RR Donnelley corporate and Foundation grant proposal through a lens of inclusiveness.

We also support many scholarship and university programs that further the traditional and digital graphic arts, internationally. RR Donnelley and its Foundation reflect our employees’ dedication to the communities in which they live and work. Our Dollars for Doers program gives directly to many of the accredited institutions and organizations at which our employees volunteer their time. RR Donnelley has long supported the United Way. Our employees also give generously of their time and money to United Way agencies in our communities, and, through our Foundation, RR Donnelley provides financial support as well.

RR Donnelley is an active corporate citizen of the world community.
